Don't Let This Happen to You!

Mouse Damage

Mice love eating apple tree bark in the wintertime. The younger the tree the better. This is a one-year-old Macoun tree planted in an existing orchard. There was plenty of snow cover this past winter (2004-2005). The snow cover allowed mice to move around without worrying about predators and they flourished.

In this case, the mice have girdled all the way around the young tree. Neither of these young  trees will survive.

You can protect your young trees from mice damage.

This is a 15 year old tree (with a mass of root suckers around it) They kept a family of mice very well fed this winter. This tree can be saved!
